BABU SARAVJEET MEMORIAL TRUST
“Unified Nation – Uniform Development”

Institutional Profile

Introduction
Babu Saravjeet Memorial Trust is a public charitable organization established to promote social welfare, justice, education, and national development in accordance with the ideals of freedom fighter Babu Sarvjeet Singh Akela.
The Trust was founded on 29 July 2020 by Mr. Digvijay Kumar Singh, the grandson of Babu Sarvjeet Singh, with the aim of carrying forward the legacy of patriotism, social service, and nation-building.
The Trust operates as a non-profit, non-political and non-governmental organization committed to the upliftment of society and empowerment of marginalized communities.

Historical Inspiration
Babu Sarvjeet Singh Akela was born on 29 July 1919 in Sehan village, Vaishali district, Bihar, in a Rajput family known for its dedication to national service.
Among five brothers in the family, three were Late Pradeep Singh, Jagdeep Singh and Sarvjeet Singh who dedicated their youth to India’s freedom struggle against British colonial rule.
Sarvjeet Singh married Pavitri Devi, daughter of renowned freedom fighter Ramvriksh Singh Jagdish Puri of Bihar.
He later lived and worked at Khadi Gramodyog, Gaya, where he devoted his life to social service and revolutionary thinking. Inspired by the dream of transforming India into a self-reliant and independent nation, he left the comforts of family life and actively joined the Indian Freedom Movement.
During this struggle, he was imprisoned along with several fellow freedom fighters, including Late Deep Narayan Singh, who later became the Chief Minister of Bihar.

Participation in the JP Movement
Sarvjeet Singh Akela remained active in public life even after independence.
On 18 March 1974, when Loknayak Jayaprakash Narayan launched the historic JP Movement for political and social reform, Sarvjeet Singh once again joined the struggle and was imprisoned in Daltonganj Jail.
His lifelong commitment to justice and social reform reflected the values of several prominent national leaders such as Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Jayaprakash Narayan, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar and Acharya Narendra Dev.
These associations shaped his philosophy of national integrity, social equality and moral governance.

Association with National Leaders
The respect enjoyed by the family can be seen from the fact that distinguished national leaders such as Governor-General C. Rajagopalachari and President Dr. Rajendra Prasad once visited their home at the request of Babujee’s father Late Hitnarayan Singh, where they shared a traditional meal of chura and dahi.

Legacy of Sacrifice
While many freedom fighters devoted their lives to the nation, many of their families lived in hardship after independence.
The saying often proved true: “The one who earns wears the dhoti, but the one with the cap enjoys the benefits.”
Despite such realities, the family of Babu Sarvjeet Singh Akela remained firmly committed to public service.
In Sehan village, this family was among the few that remained fully active in the freedom struggle.

Establishment of the Trust
To carry forward Babujee’s unfinished dreams and values, his grandson Digvijay Kumar Singh established the Babu Saravjeet Memorial Trust on 29 July 2020.
The Trust was created with the objective of spreading Babujee’s ideology and continuing his mission of social justice, public service, national unity and empowerment of weaker sections of society.

President Message

Message from the Founder
Digvijay Kumar Singh

The establishment of Babu Saravjeet Memorial Trust is not merely the creation of an organization; it is the continuation of a legacy.
My grandfather, Babu Sarvjeet Singh Akela, dedicated his life to the service of the nation and the welfare of society. His journey from a young freedom fighter to a lifelong social reformer has been a constant source of inspiration for our family and community.
Throughout his life, Babujee believed that the true strength of a nation lies in the well-being of its people. He consistently worked for the upliftment of the poor, the empowerment of the marginalized and the development of society through education and ethical values.
Inspired by his ideals, we established this Trust on 29 July 2020, his birth anniversary, with the mission of continuing his work in a structured and organized manner.
Our guiding philosophy is “Unified Nation – Uniform Development.”
We believe that national progress can only be achieved when development reaches every citizen equally, without discrimination or exclusion.
Through the initiatives of the Trust, we aim to promote education, legal awareness, social welfare, women empowerment and humanitarian support. Our goal is to create opportunities, spread awareness and encourage responsible citizenship.
I invite individuals, institutions and organizations who share this vision to join us in this journey of service and nation building.
Together, we can honor the legacy of Babujee and contribute towards building a stronger and more compassionate India.
